Your journey begins with a comfortable pick-up from your accommodation or meeting point. We will head toward the slopes of Vesuvius for the first part of the Herculaneum Experience: a visit to a local Vineyard for a traditional lunch. Surrounded by rows of vines, you will savor authentic local products and volcanic wines before diving into history.
In the afternoon, accompanied by an authorized local guide, you will explore the archaeological ruins of Herculaneum. This splendid city, originally founded by the Greeks, was submerged by a torrent of mud and lava that hardened into a soft tuff. This unique preservation process protected organic materials, such as wooden parts of houses and domestic objects, which can still be seen today in a perfect state of preservation.
During the 2-hour guided visit, your expert guide will show you the main attractions of these wonderful ruins, including the thermal baths, intact frescoes, and ancient gymnasiums. Herculaneum offers a more intimate and detailed look at Roman life compared to its larger neighbor, Pompeii. After a full day of culture and gastronomy, we will provide a comfortable transfer back to your accommodation or meeting point in Sorrento.
